Our brains are amazing machines with an insane amount of computing power.
Language, math, music, art. It’s pretty incredible what our brains can do.
Throughout human evolution, our brain's main occupation has been, of course, to keep us alive. To make sure we eat, drink, procreate, and don’t get eaten by a mountain lion.
That’s a full time job in itself. Anticipating potential dangers, and thinking our way out of problematic situations.
Not much has changed in this area. Most of our waking hours, and some of our sleeping hours, our brain is busy anticipating and solving problems.
For those of us more prone to worry and anxiety, it will even go over the same problems over and over again. Costing us precious energy and sleep.
Fortunately, most of the problems we are busy worrying about are no longer of the lion-will-eat-you kind.
Problem solving is still important of course, but I feel like our brain can take its job a little bit too seriously sometimes.
I mean it's 2022. You don’t have to work a 18 hour a day job without breaks, dude. Take a breather, brain!
So in this week's prompt, we’ll see if we can't give our problem solving machine a little creative chill pill.
Stay tuned…
