The darkest days of the year are over. From now on each day will bring a little more light into our lives.
Apologies to those of you living in the Southern Hemisphere where it’s the opposite, but it’s a great moment for us living in the global North, especially for us living in the North of the North.
The Solstice, the New Year approaching, the time where many of us are celebrating the holidays with friends and family - there are many reasons to take a moment and invite the light back into our lives.
So today, we’ll take a moment to invite (back) in all the good things that brighten our days.
The Activity: What brings you light?
You can do this activity on paper, digitally, or as a collage.
Step 1 - Draw the light
On a piece of paper, draw a light source. This could be a candle, the sun, or a light bulb. Anything that would bring light into darkness.
Step 2 - What brings you light?
Around the light source, write down the things that brighten your day, that bring light and joy to your life. What do you want to welcome with open arms to make your life and light shine brighter?
Step 3 - Keep your light close
Hang your image on your fridge, by your desk, or anywhere you see it often. Now that you’ve identified what will bring you light and joy, you’ll be able to recognise opportunities to invite these things into your life more easily.
My Example
I used the Canva app on my phone to do this activity in bed, while cuddled up to my napping daughter.
The themes are clear: having fun enjoying life, being creative, feeling a close connection and contributing to a community. That’s what brightens my days, that’s what I want to fill more of my life with.
I’ll start by making myself a Kitchen Dance Party Playlist. And you, what is on your list?
I hope you have a fantastic week and happy holidays to everyone celebrating!
Love,
Lorena
