Hej and welcome back to The Stress Less Pencil. the short creative boost for your day. I’m Lorena, here to help you sprinkle a bit of creativity into every corner of your life.

Today, we’re going to look at the mundane things in our lives and try to turn them into something magnificent. Let’s have a close look at those ordinary objects around us. Those things that you might not even notice anymore.

Look around. The coffee mug on your desk, the shoes on your feet, the old book on your shelf - each of them has a story, a design, a purpose. And each can be a source of inspiration.

Here's an interesting story: You know the children's toy, Play-Doh. It was originally designed as a wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s. It was only in the 1950s, when the inventor's nephew suggested repurposing it as a modeling toy for children, that Play-Doh as we know it was born. An everyday cleaning material turned into a source of endless creativity for kids around the world.

So, for today's creative challenge, pick an ordinary object around you. It could be anything – a chair, a pen, a teacup. Spend a few minutes observing it. What’s its story? What does it feel like, what does it remind you of? Now, create something inspired by it. Draw a quick sketch, write a short poem, or even just brainstorm a list of new uses for it.

This exercise isn't about creating a masterpiece. It's about training your brain to see the hidden potential in the everyday. As Pablo Picasso said, 'The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.'

I can’t wait to see what ordinary objects inspire you today. Share your creations with us on Substack or Instagram @ TheStressLessPencil. And let’s make the ordinary extraordinary together.

Join me next time as we explore how mindfulness can be a key to unlocking your creative self. Until then, I’m Lorena, hoping that you’ll find the art in the everyday.
