Everyday Creativity

You're made of creative bones

Hello, and welcome to this episode of The Stress Less Pencil, your little spark to ignite a more creative life. I’m Lorena, here to share a little nudge of inspiration, a dash of wisdom, and some practical tips to help you put more creativity into the tapestry of your everyday. Whether you’re washing dishes, out jogging, or on your daily commute, let’s make those moments a canvas for your imagination.

Today, we're going to kick things off by taking the scary out of creativity. You’ve probably heard someone say, ‘I can’t draw” or ‘I don’t have a creative bone in my body,’ or maybe you’ve even said it yourself. But here's a little secret: creativity isn’t about having special bones, it’s about mindset and practice.

You see, creativity isn't exclusive to artists, musicians, or writers; it’s a fundamental part of being human. It’s the way we solve problems, it's in the meals we cook, and it's in the routes we choose to take home. You are already creative every day; we’re just here to turn up the volume.

So, what does everyday creativity look like?

It’s making a silly voice to make your child laugh when you tell them a story. It’s the doodle on the corner of your grocery list. It’s even in the way you arrange your books on the shelf.

But why does this matter? Because living creatively adds color to the everyday. It brings joy. It can make the mundane magical. And, if you’re willing to take this journey with me, you’ll see that not only do you have a creative bone, but you’re actually entirely made of them.

Before we wrap up today’s episode, here’s your creative nudge: Find one routine task you do today and ask yourself, 'How can I do this differently?' Maybe take a new route to work, use a new recipe for dinner, or rearrange your workspace. Whatever it is, do it with the intention of making it more enjoyable, more ‘you’.

And as you do, remember this quote by Maya Angelou, 'You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.'

I’ll be here in the next episode to talk more about living a more creative life. Until then, keep creating, keep dreaming, and keep believing in the extraordinary within the ordinary.

Thank you for tuning in to The Stress Less Pencil. If today’s episode sparked something in you, I’d love to hear about it. Share your creative twist on the mundane with us on Instagram at The Stress Less Pencil.

I’m Lorena, and here’s to a day lived creatively!
